Revelation 17 (Lesson 1) - Aaron Cozort - July 26, 2026

Good morning.

Good to be with you this morning.

Good to be home.

It's good to be in a house with air conditioning since I've been out at Bible Camp.

And it's good to be in a place where there's a shower that doesn't have to be shared with
12 teenagers.

So

Open your Bibles if you will to the book of Revelation.

We are in chapter 17 this morning.

And I mentioned when we started this class that I was going to do something a little bit
different than I normally do when I'm teaching Revelation, because normally when I'm

teaching Revelation, I will start with chapter 17.

And that may seem a little odd, but the reason why I start with 17 is because John tells
us in chapter 17.

when he wrote the book.

And that's one of the kind of generally speaking, one of the introductory thoughts that
you you discuss.

Uh but I decided to hold off and let chapter seventeen wait until we got to chapter
seventeen, since that's where John put it.

That's what we'll be covering this morning.

Well th this morning we'll be a little bit more academic in the sense of dealing with the

Dating of the book and the writing of the book and the reason why we've said all the
things we've said about the placement of the book.

But let's open with a word of prayer and then we'll get into our class.

Our gracious Father in heaven, we bow before your throne, grateful for the day that you've
given to us.

Lord, we ask that you forgive us when we sin and fall short of your glory.

We ask that you be with those who are struggling because of illness.

We ask that you be with those who are struggling because of hardship.

We ask that you be with those who are struggling because of weather and things that are
natural events that they have no control over.

And Lord, we pray that you will give strength to each and every one of these groups of
people.

Help us to always be reminded concerning your love, your faithfulness, your forgiveness.

Help us to remember to be.

your light in the world.

Lord, we pray that you be with those who spe spend each day in hardship and in pain.

And we pray that you give them comfort and strength and help us to be a supporting hand
and an uplifting hand to them as they go through their days.

Lord, we pray that you be with this nation with its leaders.

We pray that you be with this state and its leaders with

Pray that you be with these elections that are going on.

May they be those which are honest, and may they be those which are fair, and may they be
those which promote things which lead this country in a right path closer to you.

Lord, we pray that we will always have boldness to speak the truth, no matter what it
costs, no matter how difficult or how easy it might be, and help us to never become

settled.

in a mindset where we believe that just simply having a a nation that is free is
sufficient compared to having a nation that is saved.

Lord, we pray that you be with those who are going throughout the world, preaching the
gospel, taking the gospel to those who have not heard it and do not know your name.

All this we pray and ask in Jesus' name.

Amen.

In Revelation 17, John has just described the pouring out of the seventh bowl.

Chapter 16, verse 17, we read, Then the seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air,
and a loud voice came out of the temple of heaven from the throne, saying, It is done.

Now, if you read the text and you assume

Because it would definitely be an assumption.

If you assume that all of the events in the text of the book of Revelation happen linear
and progressively.

In other words, when one thing is done, the next thing starts.

When that thing is done, the next thing starts, you're going to be very confused in the
entire book of Revelation.

Because that's not how the book is written.

The book is written in a series of visions, often

uh or in a vision with a series of events that often go forward and then go backward and
go forward again and then go backward again because when john is dealing with these things

he's going to tell us what is currently going on and what is about to come.

And if you write about something that is about to come

And that thing is further off, but then you write about something else that's about to
come, and that thing's closer up.

They're still both in the future.

They're still not here yet.

And so, as John is writing about the seven bowls, he's going to give a series of
judgments.

And then he says, it's done.

But in actuality.

with the remainder of the vision, the it is done is going to be rehearsed multiple times.

Just like we saw back in chapter 6, where in the seventh, or sorry, in the sixth seal,
when it's opened up, John declares that this judgment is going to come and the rich and

the mighty and the powerful and those who are rulers are going to call for the mountains
to fall on them.

But that hasn't happened yet.

It's being lived out in the visions here in chapter 16, here in chapter 17, here in
chapter 18.

So what was said and forecasted in six is being poured out in fifteen and sixteen, and
then it the it is done statement is going to be rehearsed in seventeen and eighteen.

Because God is going to give more detail to what it is that is done.

He's going to describe in depth the fact that the city that is persecuting his people is
going to be put down.

And he's going to do it in a number of different different figures.

So if you read chapter 16, verse 17, and you read, it is done.

And you say, okay, all the judgment's passed.

All the judgment is over.

And then you open up chapter 17, you're like, well, this must be a second judgment.

No.

This is a pause, rewind, let's go in more detail.

And let's discuss just exactly who got judged.

Okay?

So chapter 17 is identifying the fulfillment of Daniel.

This must not be missed.

Chapter 17 is identifying the fulfillment of Daniel chapter 7.

When you read chapter 17 hand in with Daniel, Daniel chapter 7 and Daniel chapter 2, you
understand what's going on.

You understand when it's written.

You understand what John is saying.

Because if you understand Daniel, then you're going to understand Revelation.

Okay?

And if you understand Revelation, you now have visibility into the things that Daniel
wanted to know, but God said, No, seal it up.

Time's not yet.

Okay?

So Daniel 2, Daniel 7, Daniel 12 are all brought together in Revelation 17.

But in chapter 16, verse 17, we read: the seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air,
and a loud voice came out of the temple of heaven.

From the throne, saying it is done.

And there were noises and thunderings and lightnings, and there was a great earthquake,
and mighty and great earthquake as had not occurred since men were on the earth.

You go, okay, Aaron, I know we're what we're supposed to do with the book of Revelation is
we're supposed to read what it says and then go find it in history, right?

We're supposed to read about the vision, then we're supposed to go find where that
historically happened.

No.

We're supposed to read what it says and go, what does it mean?

Well, this is the same language that Jesus uses in Matthew twenty-four concerning the fall
of the nation of Israel.

This is the same language that the Old Testament prophets use concerning the fall of Edom,
concerning the fall of Jerusalem and Judah, concerning the fall of Babylon in Old

Testament times.

These lightnings and thunderings and earthquakes, this is the world of this nation.

Is going to be completely uprooted.

It is going to be completely overthrown.

It is going to be completely disrupted.

Have y'all noticed the weather?

Tod.

You know, since we are an incredibly advanced and scientific and powerful nation, why
don't we just go ahead and change the weather?

I mean I vote for it, but uh all my vote's not gonna w make a d hill of beads difference,
is it?

S some have talked about some of the technology that has has been created to help uh
certain climates be able to produce more rain and legitimately so.

that they've found different ways to actually cause clouds to drop their moisture sooner
rather than later over places that need it.

Okay.

It's not too uh mysterious.

It's been around the technology's been floating around for fifteen or sixteen years.

But the point is they they

the the moisture was already in the cloud.

They didn't create the weather.

They just push the weather one direction or the other, and guess what?

They only do it moderately successfully.

Because they can't create the moisture out of nothing.

They can't create the cloud out of nothing.

And they certainly can't generate all of these things.

Now there's a an endless supply of people

Suggesting that we have these uh great massive weapons up in outer space that cause
earthquakes wherever our enemies are or whatever, there's always a well-timed earthquake.

Jesus, when he was talking about in Matthew chapter 24 about the fall of Jerusalem, said
you're gonna hear about wars and rumors of wars and all of these things.

But when he uses the signs and the language of the Old Testament, he uses it the same way
the Old Testament writers did of the fall of a nation.

This picture, this language, the noises, the thunderings, the lightnings, the great
earthquake, as had never been seen, this is God saying, I'm toppling the nation as only I

can.

In a way that is undoable by mankind.

Verse 19.

Now the great city was divided into three parts.

And notice in the end of chapter 16, we're talking about a judgment on a great city.

The pouring out of the bowls is a judgment on a great city.

Chapter seventeen and eighteen is going to discuss a judgment on a great city.

That's because they're all talking about the same judgment, and they're all talking about
the same city.

Now notice what he says.

He says, Now the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations
fell.

And great Babylon was remembered before God to give up the cup of the wine of the
fierceness of his wrath.

Here in the book, John ties his vision to Daniel.

He ties it to Daniel through his use of the beasts.

He ties it to Daniel through the use of Babylon.

The vision is connected to Daniel 2.

And by the way, even those who get the book of Revelation entirely wrong don't dispute
that.

Because they recognize that you can't understand Revelation without Daniel.

Now, they completely abuse Daniel, so they can abuse the book of Revelation.

But the fact of the matter is that if you're going to understand what John's writing
about, you've got to understand what Daniel was talking about.

Now we know in Daniel chapter 2, John, sorry, Daniel is going to interpret the vision that
Nebuchadnezzar.

Saw.

He doesn't only interpret the vision, he also is commanded by Nebuchadnezzar to do what?

Tell him the vision.

Tell me what the dream was.

And interpret the vision.

That's why all of the prophets and soothsayers of Babylon said, Listen, no king has ever
requested this.

We can't possibly do this.

He says, Well, you can't possibly live then.

Because I'm going to kill you and cut you in pieces unless you can tell me the vision and
what it means.

So Daniel will tell Nebuchadnezzar that.

That he can do these things, not because he can do them, but because the God of heaven can
do them.

And so he will tell Nebuchadnezzar concerning the vision that he had while lying on his
bed.

He says, You saw a great statue as of a man, and it had a head of gold.

Who did Daniel by inspiration say was the head of gold?

Nebuchadnezzar as Nebuchadnezzar embodied Babylon.

It is important to note in the very beginning of the vision that a single

embodied the person of an entire nation.

That was Babylon.

Even though Babylon is going to continue to exist after Nebuchadnezzar's dead.

Babylon is going to be judged, but it's not going to be during the lifetime of
Nebuchadnezzar, is it?

It's going to be the time that Nebuchadnezzar's grandson is on the throne.

And as his grandson is on the throne, as the second ruler in the kingdom.

They're gonna throw the great party and they're gonna use the the articles of from the
temple to drink their wine out of and they're going to see a vision of a hand writing on

the wall and what is the hand going to say?

Meeny meeny tickle you farsen, you have been weighed in the balances and have been found
wanting.

And Daniel will interpret that vision as well, that event, and will declare to the one who
is on the throne that the this very night, the Medo-Persian Empire, is going to overthrow

Babylon.

And they did.

And they overthrew it in one night.

Now, is Nebuchadnezzar alive when Babylon is overthrown?

The answer is no.

He's been dead, his son's been reigning, his son got bored of reigning, decided to go
build a bunch of altars to a god that most of the Babylonians didn't appreciate, and then

his son was put in charge of Babylon.

Years have transpired since Nebuchadnezzar died.

And yet in the vision, Babylon is encapsulated in one person.

And when Daniel later will describe the fall of Babylon, he will still deal with Babylon's
judgment in view of Nebuchadnezzar.

So there's already a precursor to uh and and a a a uh what is it in in a court case where
you've got precedent, that's what I'm looking for.

There's a precedent in Daniel's visions where a single ruler embodies a nation and is
judged in the person of that ruler, even though the event that occurs where the final fall

of the nation will not even occur in their lifetime.

Okay?

That is incredibly important to realize.

Is because God is going to say, I'm going to judge Rome in the life of Domitian.

I am going to judge this great harlot in the person of the eleventh king in Daniel's
terminology and the eighth king in John's terminology.

going to judge Rome in Domitian.

But Rome's not going to fall for sh years after Domitian dies.

God doesn't care.

The same way God didn't care when God told Nebuchadnezzar that God was going to judge
Babylon in the person of Nebuchadnezzar.

Because once God says it's going to happen, it's going to happen.

Okay?

So the city that is being dealt with in verse 19 was divided into three parts, and the
cities of the nations fell.

Notice there is a city, and then there are cities of the nations.

Okay?

They're connected to one another, but they're not interchangeable.

There is a city that rules over.

The cities of the nations.

Now in John's day, what city ruled over the cities of the nations?

Rome.

You mean it wasn't Jerusalem?

No.

Jerusalem was a vassal state.

Jerusalem was a subjugated state, and at the time of the writing of Revelation, Jerusalem
is gone.

It's not Jerusalem.

There are many who even within the Brotherhood who teach that the book was written in AD
sixty-eight, sixty-nine, some as early as sixty-three, and they say this is all about

Jerusalem.

No, it's not.

There are no cities of the nations that are under the thumb or in cohorts with and in
subjugation to the city of Jerusalem in John's day.

Not in Jesus' day, not in John's day, not in the first century, not at all.

Now, he says, Then every island fled away, and the mountains were not found.

And great hail from heaven fell upon men, each hailstone about the weight of a talent.

Men blaspheme God because of the plague of the hail, since that plague was exceedingly
great.

We've got, as we've already mentioned, in the bowls, we've got old testament imagery from
Exodus.

And here we find one of the plagues of

of hail that occurs again visionarily in uh the judgment in Rome.

But then we read seventeen verse one.

Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and talked with me, saying,
Come, I will show you the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters.

One of the angels that just poured out the judgment.

comes to John and says, Here, let me let me give you a little bit more detail about this.

Let me show you in detail the judgment of the great harlot.

And the harlot here is pictured as Rome.

It is the city that sits on many waters.

Part of Rome's power structure that made it unique in that period of time was the ability
to send its centurions via boat.

Its ability to reach all the way up even into what would become Great Britain with the
power and the exertion of its sea based army.

Yes, it had roads, and yes, it traveled over land, but it didn't just do that.

It showed up in places that other people didn't show up to do battle because of its
sea-based power.

But also, this is the harlot that sits on many waters.

The waters here are somewhat physical in picture, in but it's more uh it is more so
prophetically used.

Of nations.

Okay?

The waters, the seas are pictured as the nations of the earth.

Okay?

So this is the great harlot who sits upon many nations, with whom the kings of the earth
committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth were made drunk with the wine of

her fornication.

So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness, and I saw a woman sitting on a
scarlet beast.

Which was full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.

Now, some will go back to chapter twelve and go, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.

That's right.

The woman in chapter twelve was taken into the wilderness, therefore the woman in chapter
twelve is the woman of chapter seventeen, and therefore, since the woman of chapter twelve

is the church, this must be the apostate church in the form of the Catholic Church.

You might remember we've discussed throughout the book that every good thing in the book
has an evil opposite.

The woman pictured as the church produces the Messiah.

The woman that is in chapter twelve has offspring that are attacked by Satan.

And by the beast.

The woman isn't the great harlot.

Rather, the great harlot is the one who rides upon the beasts.

She's the one who's persecuting the woman who's holy.

The great harlot is the one who sits on many waters.

The great harlot is the one whom kings of the earth committed fornication with.

That idea of they committed fornication with her, this is talking about political power
and the use that Rome made of its army.

The Roman army would go to a land.

And they'd show up.

And you'd have an option.

They didn't just conquer.

Many nations and many rulers and many authoritarian rulers will go forth and they just
kill everybody, take their land.

Usually they do that when they have an overpopulation of people and they need to spread
out.

We've got too many people here to sustain ourselves.

We're going to go conquer somebody else's land and we're going to go take it over.

That's not what the Romans did.

The Romans were based in Italy.

The Romans didn't have a whole lot of land, they also didn't have a whole lot of people.

They weren't one of these nations that was just massive in size by way of their birth
rate.

They rather were in search of power and power in different forms.

Physical power, military power.

Power in the form of mil sorry, military power, power in economic power.

So the first thing they would do when they came to a nation, if they could, is they go to
the rulers and go, Hey, you want to make an alliance with us?

We'll make you a deal.

You come under the umbrella of Rome, and you can be a vassal state, you'll pay us tribute,
but we'll make you rich.

We will bring our economy to you.

We will make it where you have a marketplace to buy and sell your goods all over the Roman
Empire.

We will guarantee safety of transportation for economic trading.

So your little economy will grow massively and you will just pay us off the top.

And so King said You know what?

Rich sounds better than dead.

Because that was the there was the carrot and there was the stick.

The carrot was you can join our economy to become a vassal nation and you will become rich
and you'll just pay us.

Or you can be dead.

Pick, whichever one you prefer.

Because if you decide not to join our economy, we'll just overthrow you, we'll set up our
own king, and then we'll do it anyway.

So the kings of the earth said, Oh, a little fornication with Rome's not too bad.

As long as they get rich, sure, I'll worship your God.

I'll call Caesar God all day long.

Bring the money.

And so the great harlot is the one who sits on many waters, and the one who coerces kings
of the earth to commit fornication with her for their.

Economic benefit.

That wasn't Jerusalem.

And while there are many similarities to the actions of many nations today, that's just
because they know the p the the playbook of nations.

This is what powerful world power nations do.

We in America have been guilty of it multiple times in the last 70 years.

Where we will walk in and say, you would like to be in agreement.

With the Americans, right?

And you would like to use the US dollar, right?

Because you wouldn't like to have the American army show up and if you don't if you're not
quite certain when in history we've done that, go read a little bit more about the Gulf

War.

Saddam Hussein said, Yeah, I'm done selling oil in dollars.

That didn't work out too well.

So the playbook has been the same for nations for many years.

But the city that is the sitting on many waters in John's day, the city that Daniel talked
about isn't America.

It's not Russia.

It's not China.

It's not the Catholic Church.

It's Rome.

Now consider.

He carried me away in the spirit of the wilderness, and I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet
beast which was full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.

Now where did we see a scarlet beast earlier in the text?

Remember chapter 12?

The dragon.

Notice.

Go back to chapter 12.

Verse 7 and war broke out in heaven.

And Michael and his archangel fought with the dragon.

let me actually go to.

Yeah, go back to verse 3.

That's actually what I want.

So the woman, who's pictured as God's people, is going to be attacked by the dragon in s
in effort to kill God's people and the child that she brings forth.

Notice chapter 12, verse 1.

Now a great sign appeared in heaven, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her
feet, and on her head a garland of twelve stars.

Then being with child she cried out in labor and in pain to give birth, and another sign
appeared in heaven.

Behold a great fiery what color?

Red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns and seven diadems on his head.

Now go back to chapter twelve sorry, chapter seventeen.

So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness, and I saw a woman sitting on a
scarlet beast which was full of names of blasphemy, having how many heads and how many

horns?

Seven heads and ten horns.

Imagine that.

A red beast with seven heads and ten horns.

I wonder.

I wonder which beast it is.

this is the beast of chapter twelve.

This is the dragon.

Now, in chapter 12, we're told that the power of the dragon is Satan.

But this isn't the embodiment of Satan.

This is a nation under Satan's control.

And the woman's riding on top of the control and authority of Satan.

But the woman is sitting on the beast.

And the beast has seven heads.

And ten horns.

We don't have to wonder what the seven heads are, what the ten horns are.

John's gonna tell us, and Daniel's gonna tell us.

The woman is the one who's riding on top of her, and she's the one that all the kings of
the earth commit their fornication with.

Now notice the contrast.

Here's the woman who seduces the kings of the earth.

And back in chapter 12.

There's a woman who's clothed with the sun.

Those aren't the same woman.

Those aren't the same person.

That woman is holy.

This woman is not.

Okay?

But notice John's going to tell us concerning her adornment.

Let's go down and get verse 18, actually, before we get out of this.

uh And the woman who you saw, lest somebody say, well, Aaron, doesn't say it's a city.

Yes, it does.

Verse eighteen, and the woman whom you saw is that great city that rules over the kings of
the earth.

So we ask again, which city ruled over the kings of the earth in John's day?

Rome.

So do we have to guess who the woman is?

No.

We don't have to guess.

As long as we understand that John is writing about what is currently going on, and he
says he is, and then he's writing about what will surely come to pass, and he says that he

is.

And he's writing about that which which is about to take place, and he says that he is,
then he's writing about the woman who's ruling over the kings of the earth right now.

And that's Rome.

Then notice, go down to well let's go get verse verse four through six, and then we'll get
to verse seven.

The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet.

What are what purple and scarlet?

What what type of colors are those in biblical times?

Royalty.

She's arrayed like royalty, but she's a harlot.

She's arrayed like someone of prominence and authority.

But she's not.

Notice she was arrayed in purple and scarlet and adorned with gold and precious stones and
pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the filthiness.

of her fornication.

And on her forehead was written, Mystery, Babylon the Great, the mother of harlots, and of
the abominations of the earth.

John looks at the woman.

And you know, almost everything in the book of Revelation has gotten some sort of name put
on it.

Put on his head or put on his hand.

And John, if you were to think about this in the movie scene idea, the z camera just zooms
in and you have this close up of the top of her forehead.

And John reads what it says.

Mystery.

Babylon the Great.

Now all the way back there a few chapters ago we read Babylon is fallen, has fallen that
great city.

And that's borrowed language from Isaiah.

And we notice that Isaiah made the prophecy of Babylon's fall before Babylon ever took
power.

And here John comes along and says, Hey, the woman, she's the Babylon we were talking
about.

The woman, she's the city that rules over many nations.

The woman, she's the great heartling.

The woman, she is the mother of the abominations of the earth.

And she's seducing the nations.

When you get in chapter 17, we're going to deal more with this next week.

But when you get into chapter 17, you're having a rehearsing of the things that have
already been spoken, of the things that have already been said in greater detail.

You're having greater definition placed upon these things.

He says, I saw the woman drunk.

But what she's drunk what is she drunk?

Blood of the saints.

I saw the woman drunk with the blood of the saints and the blood of the martyrs of Jesus.

And when I saw her, I marveled with great amazement.

Now, John is going to see this woman riding on this beast, and John's gonna marvel.

John is going to look at this and say, if you were to take Marvel in the in the in the
negative sense, uh I don't know how we're gonna survive this.

As as as Christians might be pictured as a as a dwindling army of people who are being
killed and slaughtered and dying and here someone looking over the wall and looking at the

the horde of enemies and going Yeah, I don't know.

I don't know how we win.

Look at her.

Look at Rome.

She can just call up one more nation after one more nation after one more nation after one
more nation to come and slaughter us.

How are we going to win?

But the angel said to me, Why do you marvel?

I will tell you the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carries her, which has
seven heads and ten horns.

The angel looks at John as it were and sees John, seeing himself in the vision, marveling
at the woman, and marveling at what is their enemy.

He says, What are you marveling about?

Let me tell you how it ends.

When you see the word mystery in the New Testament, you should not understand that to
mean.

Basically anywhere in the New Testament, you should not understand that to mean something
which cannot be known.

Or something that is so enshrouded in mystery that you cannot understand it.

In the New Testament, you should understand it to be here's something God's about to
explain to us.

And he does.

Over and over and over and over again.

Paul will write about the mystery of the gospel, and then he'll explain the mystery of the
gospel to you.

John's going to hear the angel tell about the woman, and he's going to look at the woman,
and the top word on her head says mystery, and God says, Let me tell you what it means.

I want you to connect to one other passage.

Go back to Daniel chapter seven.

Daniel chapter seven.

Verse seven.

Now, in this vision of Daniel, Daniel has seen three beasts already.

One beast, another beast, another beast, and the fourth beast is about to be described.

Verse seven.

And after this I saw in the night vision and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible,
exceedingly strong, it had huge iron teeth.

It was devouring, breaking in pieces, and trampling the residue with its feet.

It was different from all the beasts that were before it, and it had ten horns.

I was considering the horns, and there was another horn, a little one, coming up among
them.

If you had ten and you had one, how many you got?

you got eleven.

He says, there was another one coming up among them, before whom three of the first horns
were plucked out by the roots.

If you have eleven and you subtract three, how many do you have?

Eight.

All right.

This is not hard math.

All right.

Don't mess it up.

If you had ten and you had one, you got eleven.

If you have eleven, you subtract three, you got eight.

Okay.

Don't lose that.

It's not hard, but don't lose it.

He says, I was considering the horns, and there was another horn, a little one, coming up
from among them, before whom the first of the three three of the first horns were plucked

up out by the root, and there in his ho in his in this horn, I'll get my words out, were
eyes like the eyes of a man and a mouth speaking pompous words.

Now, go back chapter seventeen.

And this woman, she's just got

Her mouth full of abominations.

And she is offering up the blood of the saints.

And she is calling upon the nations to come and commit fornication with her.

Now go back chapter seven and watch this of Daniel.

I watched till thrones were put in place.

And the ancient of days was seated, his garment was white as snow, and his hair as the
head of his head was like pure wool, his throne like a fiery flame, its wheels a burning

fire, a fiery stream issued and came forth from before him, a thousand thousands
ministered to him, ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him, the court was seated,

and the books were opened.

And I watched then because of the sound of the pompous words which the horn was speaking.

I watched till the beast was slain, and its body destroyed and given to the burning flame.

As for the rest of the beast, they had their dominion taken away, yet their lives were
prolonged for a season and a time.

I watched uh I was watching in the night visions, and behold, one like the Son of Man
coming with the clouds of heaven, he came to the ancient of days, and they brought him

near before him.

Then to him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom.

Then all peoples, nations, and languages should serve him.

His dominion is an everlasting dominion which shall not pass away, and his kingdom the one
which shall not be destroyed.

All right, so you would think, all right, Daniel must have in his mind this this king
who's sitting upon the throne, and he must be just marveling at this king that he has seen

arrive in heaven and all the nations no.

I, Daniel, was grieved in my spirit within my body, and the visions of my head troubled
me.

I came near to one of those who stood by and asked him the truth of all this, so he told
me and made known to me the interpretation of these things.

Those great beasts, which are four, are four kings which arise out of the earth.

But the saints of the most high shall receive the kingdom and possess the kingdom forever,
even forever and ever, amen.

Then I wish to know the truth about the fourth beast.

Of all the things in the vision that Daniel wants to know about, he says, I um Explain to
me this fourth one.

He says, I wish to know the truth about the force beast fourth beast which was different
from all the others, exceedingly dreadful, with its teeth of iron and its nails of bronze,

which devoured broken pieces and trampled the residue with its feet, and the ten horns
were on its head, and the other horn which came up, before which three fell, namely the

horn which had eyes and a mouth which spoke pompous words, whose appearance was greater
than his fellows, I was watching, and the same horn was making war against who?

saints and prevailing against them.

John sees himself in chapter 17 look at the great harlot riding on the great beast, and
John sees himself marvel at the beast.

Daniel back here in Daniel 7 sees the vision, and Daniel sees himself marvel and despair
at the beast.

We've got parallels here.

And as we get in next week to the depth of chapter 7 and the depth of chapter 17, we're
going to see where those parallels all weave together to understand the writing and the

date of the book of Revelation.

Okay?

Thank you for your attention.
